Don't get overheard in New York

The website called Overheard in New York is giving people in the Big Apple a whole new reason to eavesdrop on people in public.  Overheard in New York is dedicated to documenting the funny and strange conversations overheard in public.

Let’s be honest.  All of us have had some down-right freaky conversations that other people have heard.  That likelihood increases dramatically if we’re boozed-up on some cheap liquor.  We know how you roll.  Hey, we’re no stranger to Old Crow either.  Purple Passion, HOLLA!

At any rate, we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to post some of the best entries people have submitted:

Midwestern tourist: Is she Spanish or retarded?
New Yorker: Retarded.
–19th St & 8th Ave, Park Slope

Little Girl: Mommy, why do people in New York always wear black?
Mommy: I don’t know. Maybe they just don’t like looking pretty.
–Upper East Side

Agitated man: I’m going to take that lawyer to court now!
Disinterested store owner: For what?
Agitated man: Not talking nice!
–35th & 4th, Brooklyn

One of the fun things they have is the ranking system.  They include thumbs up, thumbs down, alsome (that’s how they spell it) and WTF?.  I think many of them will ultimately fall into the WTF? category.

For those of you that don’t live in New York and are itching to submit your eavesdropping nuggets, fear not.  They have other options for you:  Overheard at the Office, Overheard at the Beach and Overheard Everywhere.  Happy eavesdropping…or as we called it growing up “dipping.”
